Get to Know Niclas Axelsson

Hi Niclas! Can you tell us a little about your role at Autofric?
I work as a purchaser and spare parts manager. My responsibilities include purchasing items for the company, such as consumables and sheet metal for machinery, really a bit of everything. As the spare parts manager, my role involves understanding what the customer needs. Having been here for a long time, I have good insights that help me find the right products and parts to meet customers' needs and requests.

What’s your background, and how did you end up working at Autofric?
I have a background in sheet metal work and have previously worked in the steel industry and even on building airplanes — though the latter didn’t go so well. When I found myself without a job, my brother suggested I should join him at Autofric. That was 28 years ago, and since then, I’ve had the chance to try out many different roles within the company.

What’s the best part of your job?
The best part is the challenge of making customers happy. It feels a bit like being a detective — tracking down the right products, especially for old machines, where I often know more than the customer. It’s particularly rewarding to get positive feedback from the costumers and feel that you've really succeeded. On top of that, it’s inspiring to see how Autofric continues to grow. Watching the company evolve from starting up in an abandoned gas station to what we are today with around 35 employees, makes the work exciting.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
In my free time, I spend a lot of time renovating my old house. I also enjoy working on my vintage American car, an AMC Pacer. It was actually voted the world’s ugliest car in a poll, but I think it’s fun to keep it running. Beyond that, I have a bunch of grandkids who make sure life is always lively and full of energy!
