Investing in the future with a new machine for bending screw flights

At Autofric, we have been manufacturing transport screws and spirals for more than 35 years. With decades of experience in industrial flows, we have gradually been able to develop expertise in the design and production of customized transport screws that we know are appreciated by our customers.

As customer needs change, we adapt our operations to meet market demands. What we are seeing right now is a clear increase in demand for more advanced transport screws with unique pitches and complex geometries needed for customized applications. To meet these demands, we have developed our capacity to manufacture transport screws with individual screw flights.

Innovative solutions for advanced needs

In the production of spirals, long flat bars are used, rolled into the correct shape and finally welded together with the drive components into a finished transport screw.

Recent investments in water and laser cutting have allowed us to produce functional transport screws in a completely different, more sophisticated way than those using traditional manufacturing methods. Cutting technology has given us greater freedom in the design process and enabled complex and customized solutions.

Full control, greater flexibility

Despite the progress, a crucial part of the manufacturing process has been outside our direct control. For the bending of the screw flights, we have - until today - been dependent on external operators.

With our recent investment in a state-of-the-art screw flight bending machine, we have taken a major step forward as we can now manage the entire manufacturing process in-house. Full control over the entire process gives us greater flexibility and creativity, but also the ability to meet our customers' specific needs faster and more cost-effectively.

Jesse Roulette, Project Manager at Autofric, emphasizes the strategic importance of the investment.

- “This is not just an investment in a new machine, it is an investment in our future. By increasing capacity and gaining control over the entire process, we can ensure that we continue to deliver innovative solutions. The new machine is an important addition to our toolbox and a key component of our vision for the future.

The new machine was installed during the month of July and the first screw flights have already left our workshop.
